Believable and Trustworthy

A recent entry in the Days of Praise devotional pointed out that the word faithful means believable and trustworthy.  It also said that it can be applied to both people and things.  God’s Word is  Faithful and true, and we should be faithful to God. God’s Word declares “Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?”  Proverbs 20:6.  By this we know that being faithful or being believable and trustworthy, does not come naturally but must become a choice for one’s life.  To live out that choice, we must live it through the power of God, as seen in the following verses: I Pe 1:5 & 6, & 13-16: “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;  As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.  Only when you live a  life that is right before God can you be seen as a faithful person, one who is believable and trustworthy! For your benefit, we have included some extra verses which you can look up and ponder on a bit.  Do that, then ask yourself, ” Am I really a faithful Christian, one who is  believable and trustworthy? “ Deuteronomy 7:9;  Daniel 6:4;  Hebrews 3:5;  II Timothy 2:13;  Revelation 1:5; 17: 14  &  22:6;  Psalm 101:6;  (for church leaders) Titus 1:6 & I Timothy 3:11 (There are many verses in both the Old and the New Testaments where the word faithful is used in verses dealing with God, His Word , and people!
